The story of a photograPHER
Hi! My name is Dawn. I started photography in high school, (we won't talk about how long ago that was), and I've found myself going back to it as a career ever since. I went to college for nursing while still doing photography on the side and realized I still loved photography more.
I opened my first studio in Winston -Salem, NC. My main focuses in photography at that time were weddings and boudoir photography. It may seem like completely different worlds, but to me they fit together perfectly. This is where I came up with the name Embrace the Grain photography. Grain in a photo can be seen as an imperfection to professional photographers. However, I can see the beauty in it. I learned during both boudoir photography and weddings; my clients struggled with embracing their imperfections. That's why they hired me! To make them feel like the best versions of themselves on one of the most important days of their lives and in intimate situations.
2020.. the year everyone struggled. I moved to Myrtle Beach; SC due to not being able to use my studio during COVID. After only a year and a half of moving, I met my husband, and we started our family. I realized that I like to do a little bit of everything. I get bored when I specialize in a certain area, and it blocks the artistic side of me. I mostly do real estate, weddings, engagements, boudoir, family, and styles shoots now. I can't wait to connect with you and help you embrace your grain!
